Naomi Watts
Naomi Ellen
Watts (born 28 September 1968) is the British actress from the UK. Her film
debut was in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) that was followed by three tv
series: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and
Flirting (1991). After having moved to the United States, Watts initially
struggled to become an actress, acting in small-scale film until she starred in
David Lynch's psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 as an actress in
training. Watts became famous internationally through this part. Watts was then
cast as a depressed journalist in the film adaptation of The Ring (2002). Her
portrayal of a mother with grief in Alejandro's 21 Grams (2003) was nominated
for an Academy Award. Her profile continued to grow with starring roles in I
Heart Huckabees (2004), King Kong (2005), Eastern Promises (2007), as well as
The International (2009). Watts received nominations for an Academy Award for
Best Actress for her part in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. She
appeared in films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014) and While We're
Young (2015). Watts continued her acting career by making big-budget roles,
such as in Divergent (2015-2016).
