Anita Ekberg

Marianne Ekberg (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29 September 1931 - 11 January
2015) was a Swedish actress in American and European film, well-known for her
beautiful and stunning body. Her character as Sylvia, in Federico Fellini's
movie La Dolce Vita (1960) has made her a household name. Ekberg mostly worked
in Italy before becoming permanent residents in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on
29 September 1931, in (Sweden), the eighth child in a family of eight. Anita worked
as a fashion model in her teens. In response to the wishes by her mother,
Ekberg entered Miss Malmo in 1950. The contest was won by her in the Miss
Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English she travelled to
America to compete for the Miss Universe 1951 title. It was an not an official
pageant at the time. The pageant was made officially recognized in 1952. Ekberg
was not crowned the Miss Universe pageant. However, she was one six
semi-finalists. Universal Studios offered her an exclusive starlet contract.
Ekberg was a Universal starletin which she learned dance, drama, and elocution.
She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953), Abbott and Costello go
to Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953) as well as The Golden Blade (53).
