Rachel Emily Nichols was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Alison and James Nichols, a schoolteacher. The girl is of French Canadian, German and Irish heritage. Cony High School was her high school in Augusta. She graduated there with a math diploma and a high jump that was competitive. She went to Columbia University in New York City and eventually earned a degree with a double major in economics and math. She began modeling and began an impressive career in modeling, working for prestigious brands like Guess?, Abercrombie & Fitch or L'Oreal. Rachel made the decision to pursue acting, and was offered a part in the HBO drama Sex and the City (1998). This was her first audition. She made her film debut as Jessica Matthews in the prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003). Her success continued with films like The Amityville Horror (2006), The Inside (2005) and Alias (2001), G.I.
