Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). When she turned three years young, her family and her moved to America. Summer attended American and British schools and her family was living abroad. She returned to Pasadena in the days before her birthday, which was on 14th September. Enticed by the thought of acting since the age of five, Summer took her first acting class at 14. Nine months after that, she signed with an agent/manager and began her full-time job. She is currently working towards her degree at college in her free time. She was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominee for Best Actress – Spirit Award. At the age of 14 years old, Bishil began to take acting classes. Within a year Bishil was offered the contract of a manager or agency. Bishil began her career as a character on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was offered an agreement with a manager and agency. Her first big break was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel with the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate and Slate, stated that Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in an film that was, despite the best intentions made it feel fake and somewhat embarrassing. It was like an extended PSA about inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist for a newspaper, said that Bishil "...is one of the most talented natural actresses on film in recent times. Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the film Towelhead, stated that, "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns in a strong, nimble, stunning performance in the role of Jasira. "In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's film, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal that garnered some positive attention from the Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender, and was planned to be the subject of the planned but never-produced sequel.
