Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara is a famous American actress and singer, both of Irish origin. The fiery, passionate roles she played in a myriad of American films were loved by the green-eyed beauty , with fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her beauty and grace were highly praised. Also, she was known as'the Queen of Technicolor in Hollywood. The characters she played on screen reflected her strong, courageous spirit who fought for survival and recognition in a world dominated by males. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and was not willing to sacrifice her image or respect to get the roles she deserved on merit. She stood up for injustices and unjust treatment of female actors throughout her film career and earned many followers. The autobiography of her, 'Tis herself released in 2004 gave a candid and truthful story of her entire life's events, as well as her struggle to climb the ladder to success. She was an adventurous person who was never afraid to perform her own stunts. She starred in over 60 films and was a popular star all around the globe. In the wake of Parra, she remarried again in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot and a pioneer of transatlantic aviation, just to mention just a few of her accomplishments. Within a couple of years of their marriage, O'Hara decided to retire. Blair however, died in a tragic crash on a plane in the year 1978. O'Hara's happiness lasted only a few days. She was also diagnosed with uterine cancer in the same year, and had an immediate surgery. She was successful in recovering. Her health deteriorated throughout her life and she was later diagnosed with six heart attacks and short-term memory loss, as well as diabetes mellitus type 2. On October 24, 2015, O'Hara died peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
