Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles was an American comedian, author, actor, and stand-up comedian. He was among the most well-respected entertainment talents. His quick wit and funny remarks accompanied by his genuine love for his audience created an irresistible mix of fun, amusement and laughter. Due to his amazing ability to make insults sound funny and inoffensive he was a regular on celebrity roasts. Because his insults were cruel and hurtful, he drew lots of attention and anyone who was exposed to the insults would have a wonderful time. While he began as a typical comedian, with scripted jokes in his mind, he soon realized that his spontaneous remarks were better than his written material. He was adored by many among them was Frank Sinatra. In addition to being featured in numerous films and TV shows He also released two comedy albums. He was awarded numerous honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from 'The Comedy Awards'. Don Rickles only had small roles on television after his graduation. His stand-up comedy began as an opportunity to earn income and he eventually created his "insult comedian" brand. He began the 1970s with a pivotal character in the film "Kelly's Heroes" (1970) which starred Clint Eastwood. He appeared in a variety of TV comedies such as  The Dean Martin Roasts' (1972), and The Don Rickles Show,' (1973). Barbara Sklar was Don Rickles' wife on March 14, 1965. They had two children: daughter Mindy and son Larry. Larry, their son, died in 2011. Bob Newhart was Don Rickles' most beloved friend. They often took vacations together, along with their wives. They were a couple who were on numerous TV shows together, including 'Newhart'. Don Rickles was also a good friend of Bob Newhart and they frequently vacationed together in California.
