Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Chennai-based Indian woman who was born on September 1st, 1970. Lakshmi lost her parents at the age of 2 years old. Her mother moved to USA to escape Indian stigma. Lakshmi lived for two years with her maternal grandparents, in Chennai prior to her move to the United States. The couple divorced, and she has a younger brother and sister. Lakshmi who's last name means the Hindu goddess of prosperity, wealth and success, was born in New York. She then was raised by her mother and stepfather in Los Angeles. She went back to India for several months each year to visit family. Padma Lakshmi began to be interested in acting in 1999. The first film she appeared in was "Figlio of Sandokan", a movie about the life of an Italian pirate.
